I wonder if those black and white strike is related to some D-day airshow or if that is just its units colors?
Its a great photo of it and I would say lightning and how it came out is perfect :D

Nothing to do with an airshow, they are correct colours for the unit she represents.

As an early "A" variant of the Sabre, this is the type that would have first operated during the early stages of the Korean war. Many allied aircraft operated with stripes during this early stage of the conflict for the very same reason they were worn during the Normandy campaign in WW2. Ground troops needed to easily identify the difference between enemy aircraft and friendly forces.

The "hottest thing in the sky" status is terribly short-lived.

terrific angle, really shows off how super clean this design is. such a beautiful aircraft considering how early in the jet era it was.

It's wonderful shot - I always envy you the way you are able to capture flying aircrafts, because all my attempts were futile.

I like somewhat Sabers (and MiG-15 too). Not because of their design or performance, but because of the era - the only era of aerial warfare where combination of transsonic speeds and gun armament was common. No guided missiles at all - the last war of thully maginificent men on flying machines :D
