Description
This is the Shuttleworth Collection's Sopwith Pup and Royal Aircraft Factory S.E.5a flying together over their home Old Warden during the Shuttleworth Pageant 2015.
This formation is extremely special as both aircraft are not only the last original examples of their kind surviving today in airworthy condition, they also are the very last original examples of any single seat fighter aircraft from the Great War still currently flying today. The Sopwith Pup, being powered by a very early 80hp le Rhone rotary engine has some tricky flying characteristics and as such is not overly suitable for close formation flying. As such this sight is not something that is seen very often at all despite both aircraft belonging to one collection.
