Phew! we've almost made it, 2016 will draw to a close in just a few days and what a crazy year it has been. The world seems a very different place compared to what we left behind in 2015. It has been a year of political turmoil and confusion. Cultural icons seem to be dropping like flies and there seems no end to the string of depressing stories breaking every day. Oh, and If I hear the word Brexit one more time, I might actually go mad. In short, it's been a difficult year for most of us.
Even the scene that I love so much, aviation and airshows took a battering this year with CAA price hikes, cancelled shows and tighter safety measures. Now you may know by now that I come from a little Island anchored just off the coast of France called the United Kingdom of England or some such. You know, the one with all the rain, posh people and bad teeth. Now if there is one thing that being from Britain has taught me, it is that disappointment is inevitable and to never let it get to you. In fact most Brits actively crave disappointment. How can we complain if the world is working the way it's meant to? So then what did I do when the airshow safety rules bomb dropped? Did I stand by and accept it? Well, yes... I did what all Brits do when things go pear shaped, grumbled to myself for a bit, headed for the nearest source of tea for comfort and then quietly accepted my fate.
Now if you're still with me, because even I don't know where I'm going with this, I thought it was time for me to share with you the results of that quiet acceptance in one big lump of images. A series of photographs that I am proud of, because despite all the problems this years shows presented, it wasn't too bad at all. In fact I am more proud of the images I have taken this year than any season previous as I have genuinely worked hard for them. Before I add the photographs below though, I would like to thank every one of my friends here on dA for joining me along the way. This is a wonderful community for sharing work, more so than any other I know around the internet. You guys really know how to make a photographer feel good about their work and for that I will be endlessly grateful.
I hope you all had an amazing Christmas, and if you do not celebrate Christmas, then I hope December was good for you anyway. I wish you all an amazing new year and hope that 2017 will be filled with fantastic experiences.
So then I sign off with another year of aviation filled madness.

A little bit of a challege
I have taken on the task of trying to count every single warbird that I have seen actually airborne in my time attending airshows. An almost impossible task seeing as the definition of a warbird is not always that clear, but I'll do my best. The only way I can think of doing this, is to literally just list them by type and try to remember which examples I've seen.
Starting with mustangs I have seen the following examples in the air. I will update this journal over time with other aircraft types.
North American Mustang
North American A-36 Apache "Jeannie Todd" (Currently resides in the US)
North American P-51B Mustang "Berlin Express"
Nort
Flying Legends 2019.
So the build up to Flying Legends 2019 has started this week with some initial participants being announced. Of course it is early still, so there is nothing that we wouldn't expect in this list yet, but of course more participants are likely to be added between now and July. As always I will keep this list updated, more for my own excitement than anybody else's. :D

.... but in the face of adversity we get up and we go on. We might bitch and kick up a fuss (sometimes) but we get it on. Sometimes we need to be backed up to against the wall for the best of what is in us to come out and in a tea fueled frenzy we (sometimes) kick ass (arse).
For yourself Dan I would say you rose to the challange in an epic way and even raised the bar.
I wish you all that is good for 2017 and beyond.
